Illinois Action for Children's partnership with Open Door Advisors came just in time for more than 150 child care providers who were either completely or partially closed during the height of the pandemic in the spring of 2020. Open Door Advisors made it possible for these small business owners, many of whom were unfamiliar with business loans, to navigate the application process and apply for the Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loans. The quick turnaround in assistance by Open Door Advisors resulted in the submission of applications for $4.5 million in federal assistance - critical support that was urgently needed for providers to continue paying staff and to stabilize the child care system statewide.
