What our clients say about us.

Illinois Action for Children's partnership with Open Door Advisors came just in time for more than 150 child care providers who were either completely or partially closed during the height of the pandemic in the spring of 2020. Open Door Advisors made it possible for these small business owners, many of whom were unfamiliar with business loans, to navigate the application process and apply for the Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loans. The quick turnaround in assistance by Open Door Advisors resulted in the submission of applications for $4.5 million in federal assistance - critical support that was urgently needed for providers to continue paying staff and to stabilize the child care system statewide.

I have worked with Lauri and John from Open Door Advisors for many years, and knew that I wanted to work with them when revising the strategic plan for my organization, Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT). I was not disappointed. The process has been a positive one for our staff and board, conducted in a very professional, collaborative manner. When completed we will have a plan that we can implement and that will guide us forward in the coming years.

The principals at Open Door Advisors were passionate about pulling together a strong portfolio of projects for a highly competitive foundation RFP for Sinai Chicago and the North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council. They were compassionate, smart, listened to our vision, and helped convey Sinai Chicago’s mission and impact through a series of strategically coordinated business plans designed to reach various organizations.

Open Door Advisors provided essential technical support for our small business and nonprofit partners in North Lawndale during the early months of the COVID-19 crisis. With ODA’s assistance, 16 of our partner organizations received SBA PPP loans in excess of $7M. ODA went the extra mile and remained in contact with our partners even after the loans were made in order to provide additional support as needed. ODA’s excellent work and professionalism enabled us to seamlessly support our grantee partners, who are key economic engines in the community, during a critical time in our nation’s history. We are forever grateful for our partnership with ODA.

The timing was right to forge a strategic planning partnership with Open Door Advisors. They guided AFC to identify our strategic priorities and to help set goals in a meaningful and measurable way. They actively listened to us in a way that resulted in a robust vision and mission to carry out our work for the past 5+ years that is embodied in our strategic plan. The process was strategic and collaborative and engaged our staff, Board, community partners and funders. It has been a very positive and productive work experience. During the pandemic we have remained aligned with our mission and focused on our staff and the clients we serve.
